51. Beyond Reach by Karin Slaughter

About the book

Sara Linton— resident medical examiner/pediatrician in Grant County, Georgia, — has plenty of hardship to deal with, including defending herself in a heartbreaking malpractice suit. So when her husband, Police chief Jeffery Tolliver, learns that his friend and coworker detective Lena Adams has been arrested for murder and needs Sara’ s help, she is not sure she can handle the pressure of it all. But soon Sara an Jeffery are sifting through evidence, peeling back the layers of a mystery that grows darker by the day— until an intricate web of betrayal and vengeance begins to unravel. And suddenly the lives of Sara, Lena, and Jeffery are hanging by the slenderest of threads.

I have loved this series since I read the first book way back in 2002? This book sat on the bookshelf for 8 months. Not sure why. Ok Maybe I have way to many other books sitting here. This book had me from page 1, I was annoyed that I had to work and could not just sit home and read...I knew something bad was going to happen at the end and it did... I know I will have to read the next book to see how it all plays out. I am still unhappy with the direction the author went....but she is the author and I am only a reader.. I hope the next book justifys the ending of this one.
